Flaming Lips

Dan, Aaron, and Aaron's girlfriend joinded me last night for the flaming lips concert. It was an amazing show as always. Highlights include 2 cover songs. the second song played was Bohemian Rhapsody. The last song played was War Pigs. Each had great visuals going along with them. During War Pigs they synchronized video of cheney, bush, powell, rumsfeld, and a few other evil politicians. it fit well with the song and message. Wayne and the team have done it again.

Stellastar*

I went with jules on Monday to see Stellastar*. they sound great live. totally check them out if they come near you.

Casiotone For The Painfully Alone

so a few weeks ago i checked out Casiotone For The Painfully Alone at Cake Shop. The Donkeys, from San Diego, opened up for him, and then also played some song with him during the end of his set. The sound wasnt the best, but the music was different, and pretty good.

Mike Ladd Domestica: The Final Theater in the Infesticons Saga

So on March 9th my friend Thomas and I went to see Mike Ladd's theatre/music production of Infesticon vs Majesticon creating a domesticon show. It was pretty decent. Here's a write up i read on upcoming.org

"Rapper, musician, and hip-hop conceptualist, Mike Ladd pushes the boundaries of experimental hip-hop with his political and sonic explorations, which he describes as “post-futurist soul music”. Accompanied by a crew of MCs and musicians, Ladd performs songs from his acclaimed Since Infesticons/Majesticons trilogy of albums. This series is based on Ladd’s invented sci-fi narrative that chronicles a fictitious rap battle over hip-hop’s future fought between two rival factions, represented alternatively as the assimilated “commercial mainstream” and the rebellious “underground contingent”. The evening also includes the New York-debut of new tracks from the final trilogy installment, Domesticons."

Matthew Dear @ R & R

Tonight I got to check out Audion (Mathew Dear) from the Ghosty Intl crew. He spun a good set, but the crowd just wasnt there. I am surprised for a name as big as his, and with all the hype i read, that there werent more ppl there.

Here is a pic my boy Thomas snapped of Matthew and me. I know, i look like a pure goofball in this, not sure what's up with the smile.

Wilderness

As my previous post probably told you, I got to see Wilderness last week at the Cake Shop in LES. They were fantastic. The lead singer is a bit odd. I lost my perfect front of stage seats, cause I saw a girl from high school so i went to go talk to her. sorry the photos arent closer shots. Try to see if you can see the guitarists face. It was bright red the whole night, he was seriously just playing with all he had.

San Serac

So a few weeks ago i went to check out Wilderness at The Cake Shop. Little to my surprise, i would actually check out some dude named San Serac, who was the opener. His shit was amazing. He plugged his iPod into the speakers, and he had a little keyboard and electronic drumpad. The music came on, and he just went nuts, it was most excellent. He would dance and sing jsut bobbing around the stage. Occasionally he would play some keys, or hit the drum pads to trigger cowbells or timbales. Check him out if he comes near your town. http://www.frogmanjake.com/sanserac/

This is just great

I mean this was a real bumper sticker. I thought it was the best thing i had seen in such a long time.

Swillis Time

So a couple of days before NYE, i had the pleasure of spending some time with one of my favorite people, Annie Willis. I also got to finally meet her boyfriend who i have heard so much about. Needless to say, he was all that she had said and more. It really was an enjoyable night.
